Music Development Plan

Music is an important part of our curriculum here at Springhill Academy. We intend to give all children the opportunity to learn to play a range of musical instruments. In partnership with Rock It Music, children from Reception to Year 6 enjoy practical, skills based lessons on a range of instruments throughout the year. These include keyboard, drum kit, glockenspiel, steel drum and ukulele.   

Through these lessons, children will learn:

• Singing

• Listening

• Composing

• Different genres and styles

• Performing/Instrumental Performance

• Class instrumental ensembles

• Song writing

• Improvisation

Through our singing and music celebration assemblies, we enhance further upon these music lessons through recapping music vocabulary, appreciating different genres and styles and singing collectively.
